Re: TEXACO, LOCKPORT, IL
Dear Jim:
Citizens Against Ruining the Environment -CARE- has been researching the TEXACO facility in Lockport for several years. Our research also includes direct contact with the IEPA. CARE is aware that due to TEXACO's current closed and Part B post closure status, there have been minimal investigations at this site.
CARE requests any investigation, corrective action, demolition both above ground as well as sub-surface water issues, have IEPA supervision at all times. CARE is also requesting to be notified whenever an IEPA or other agency personnel is scheduled to the TEXACO site. This would enable CARE to either contact that staff person directly or one of our group members can meet with that official on site, with TEXACO's permission.
It has also been reported to CARE, by past employees of this site, that original blueprints and records of hundreds to thousands of underground pipes are unobtainable.
Will County's attorney's office assured CARE that TEXACO will be able to remove all of the underground pipes at this location due to special equipment now in existence. This equipment enables them to go east to west and then double check with a north to south direction, supposedly to insure that all pipes will be found and removed.

CARE is requesting the information below so that we may research and investigate data pertaining to this equipment:
1. Name and manufacturer,
2. length of time in existence,
3. length of time TEXACO has been utilizing this equipment
4. 3 references including contact names and phone numbers of locations previously or currently, utilizing this particular piece or pieces of equipment.
CARE would prefer that either the IEPA or impartial sources other than TEXACO provide these references.
Thanking you in advance for your continued cooperation and efforts in maintaining our mutual efforts in protecting our environment.
Sincerely,
