Agenda Items for CARE’s September 2025 Meeting

  • Open Discussion

    PRESERVE, IMPROVE, REVITALIZE

Environmental activism works by people sharing their skills, knowledge, and concerns with others. Involvement of ordinary citizens is what gets things done, not waiting for federal or state governments to step up first.

  • Lincoln Stone Quarry

    GET THE LATEST UPDATES

CARE is part of a litigation filed by Earthjustice requesting the complete removal of toxic coal ash from Lincoln Stone Quarry’s (LSQ) fractured bedrock to a licensed hazardous waste storage site. NRG, the current owner of Lincoln Stone Quarry, is advocating instead for a cap and leave-in-place method.

  • PFAS

    EVERYWHERE AND FOREVER

Get the latest on the progress of new regulations, what consumers should be aware of, and how CARE is addressing the issue of PFAS in a county with a long history of heavy industry and reliance on groundwater-fed wells.

  • Will County Bag Fee

    SHARE YOUR OPINION

Many studies have shown that a mandatory fee on single-use bags issued at checkout significantly reduces the number used. This in turn reduces environmental impacts on communities.

CARE supports a fee, or even a ban, on single-use bags. Download a description of a proposed plan here.

  • Environmental News

    INCREASE OUR EXPOSURE

We are always looking for people to contribute content to our website. Any news that is affecting Will County’s environmental health is welcome.

  • Website Blog

    INCREASE OUR EXPOSURE

Indulge in your creative skills and write for our website blog. Just email us anything you’ve written about an environmental topic of interest to you, and we will post it. All opinions are welcome!
