Truck Pollution Town Hall Event

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) invites you to a town hall event in Joliet to learn how we're building momentum for state legislation to cut diesel truck pollution in Illinois.

UCS, as a member of the Clear the Air Coalition, is working tirelessly on the Warehouse Pollution Reduction Act (WPRA) – legislation that will cut pollution at its source and prioritize the health and safety of impacted communities. This legislation will be introduced in 2026.

Diesel exhaust from warehouse truck traffic is putting Illinois communities at serious risk - especially in Joliet and Senate District 43. These areas contain nearly 300 large warehouses and are exposed to more than 100,000 truck trips daily. These trips emit dangerous pollution that contributes to thousands of new asthma cases, heart and lung disease, and billions in healthcare costs for working families across Illinois.
