Under Construction

Here is a description of the issues CARE is currently working on.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
— Margaret Mead, American anthropologist

The Earth has good lawyers.

At the present time, Citizens Against Ruining the Environment is involved with two projects undergoing litigation.

The Greater Chicago Legal Clinic (GCLC) is assisting with CARE’s opposition to a limestone quarry expansion in Romeoville, Illinois, a project proposed by Hanson Material Service.

Earthjustice is representing a coalition of environmental non-profits (of which CARE is a member) working together to make sure that the disposal of toxic coal ash waste from existing and retired power plants in Illinois is properly regulated.
